Valcamonica Rock Drawings Project
I was invited to an art residency in the Cà'Mon Centre in Valcamonica (Northern Italy) for around ten days at the end of summer 2023, as part of the Festival Inciso Nellaterradeisegni. It was to be a graphic reflection around rock drawings (petroglyphs) made around 5500-3300 BC.
My intention was to extrapolate the shapes. I choose not the human representations, nor the animals, but rather the structures they drew: houses/chalets.
There was an installation of my rope sculptures and drawings made with carbon paper.
A big thank you to Elena Turetti for inviting me. I also thank my talented friends Sara Donati, who accompanied me for a drawing performance during the festival, and Elena Tognoli, who translated and beautifully read the text I wrote about the project and my experience with the rock drawings.
