Butterfly Oil Paintings

I was in a residency in Marseille, invited by Fotokino in 2023. As I was starting a new book, a butterfly story, I decided to do a work around butterflies. To learn more about them. To practice.

One of the initial sparks was a series of butterfly paintings by Albert Bierstadt. I decided to make some oil paintings – little flying landscapes, almost abstracts (this is one of the reasons why my butterflies don’t have antennas; they resonate in a different way).
