The Root Child — Kitty Crowther

L’ENFANT RACINE
The Root Child
Pastel – l’école des loisirs, Belgium, 2003

Leslie lives in a vast, deep forest. For the past three nights, she's been following the tracks of a fox that is eating her hens. Leslie has never ventured into this part of the forest before.

Suddenly, she hears a strange noise. She wonders if foxes cry. But the noise sounds more like a child sobbing.
